I've spent most of my life in the Southern Suburbs of Cape Town, and many years co-managing a Bed&Breakfast in Constantia. I am frequently struck by how rapidly uninhabited homes deteriorate, and have come to believe that houses need humans as much as we need them: A home is kept alive by being looked after, not merely maintained.
